AQUATIC & Water Aerobics STAFF

    Description: 
  • Aquatics Staff: Qualified candidates are 16 years old or older, have current lifeguard and/or swim instructor certification, and a desire to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, build relationships, develop swim skills and confidence and the ability to manage a safe and supervised pool area. The position is part time and includes evenings and weekends.
  • Water Aerobics: Qualified candidates are 18 or older, have current certification in land or water aerobics, and a desire to work with people, build relationships, and help them achieve their fitness goals. The position is part time, Monday and Wednesday nights 6:30 -7:30pm.

Group Leader, After School Childcare

  • Status: Part-time, Hourly
  • Location: Haverhill Y
  • Description: Must meet Department of Early Education and Care requirement under CMR 7.04 (5) and CMR 7.09(19)(2). Evidence of physical examination within one year prior to employment and every two years following employment. A CORI in accordance with the Department of Early Education and Care. Evidence of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella. Must maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age and meet one of the following requirements: have a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree; and have three months working with school age children or have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have six months of experience working with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age children program or have nine months experience with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program. Must show a willingness to learn about children’s growth and development and be able to apply this understanding to appropriate activities. Must comply with EEC regulations regarding professional development and training. Review with the Site Coordinator/Program Administrator the Health Care Policy, Parent Handbook, and Child Care Abuse and Neglect prevention policy. Must complete all trainings/certifications in accordance with the YMCA of the North Shore Training Plan.

Gymnastics Team Head Coach

Lifeguards and Swim Instructors

After School Site Coordinator

Vacation Academy Educators

Youth Sports and Gymnastics Program Assistant

  • Status: Part-Time, Hourly
  • Location: Cape Ann YMCA
  • Description: Teach classes in either sports or gymnastics- depending on candidate’s background.  Must be able to teach at least 6 hours a week. Develop marketing pieces for sports and gymnastics program. Conduct session based observations on sports and gymnastics program to ensure quality is being offered. Assist with parent communication on an ongoing basis with parents involved in programs. Assist with League coordination throughout the year. Coordinate Sports and Gymnastics birthday parties; provide the guests with a high level experience. Assist Senior Program Director in special events throughout the year. Have a good working relationship with the Senior Program Director and other YMCA Professional Staff members.
  • Requirements: Ideal Candidates will possess experience working with kids ages 2-12, love for either sports or gymnastics and willing to teach classes and programs, experience using Microsoft excel, publisher and word, communication skills both oral and written, and flexibility and able to keep organized in a changing work environment.

Aquatics Director

camp STAR Coordinator

  • Status: Part-time, seasonal. This position runs February - August with camp running June, July & August.
  • Location: Greater Beverly YMCA
  • Description: This is a leadership role during our camp season.  Camp STAR is a fully inclusive camp for children with special needs.  Children get to participate in daily activities with our Sterling Woods Day Camp campers and focus on their socialization skills while receiving peer mentoring.  The Camp STAR Coordinator oversees this program including pre-camp intake meetings with camper families, child behavior plans, child and staff safety, staff interviewing and placement, staff supervision throughout the summer, and helping the Sterling Woods Camp Director with weekly and daily events and activity planning.  The STAR Coordinator is also responsible for following all YMCA of the North Shore, Greater Beverly YMCA and MA Department of Public Health camp rules and regulations including maintaining camper and staff personnel files, weekly staff meetings with counselors and weekly staff meeting with fellow directors and supervisor.

Camp Registrar

  • Status: Part-Time, Hourly.  This position runs February - August and 25-30 hours per week. 
  • Location: Greater Beverly YMCA
  • Description: This is a leadership role during our camp season.  Our Camp Registrar works directly for the Youth, Family & Camp Director, and also closely with other camp directors, families and our membership department in regards to camp enrollments.  This jobs includes, but not limited to responsibility in monitoring the camp registration process, camp enrollments completed, weekly balance collection, editing enrollments within the Greater Beverly YMCA computer system, families communication, and processing required camper paperwork.

Kids Fun Night Staff

  • Status: Part-Time, Hourly

  • Description: Kids Fun Night is a drop off program for children grades 1-5 held every Friday night at the YMCA.  During the evening children participate in open gymnastics, open swimming, and an organized sports game in the gymnasium.  Having fun and engaging with the kids is a must,  but also upholding safety and behavior protocol is a must as well. 
  • Requirements: Program runs 6:30-9:30pm, however staff must be able to work 6pm-10pm if needed.  Prior experience working with children is not required, however strongly encouraged.  This position is also granted a free YMCA membership as an employee!

Adaptive Staff

  • Description: The Y is looking for an Adaptive staff to work our Out & About program every Friday night 6pm-9pm.  Participants go out into the community or stay within the YMCA for dinner and other activities, such as painting, gymnastics, swimming, movie marathons, etc. 
  • Requirements: Participants are 16 years old or older with development disabilities, so prior experience is needed.  Beneficial to have 7D Driving License.

Lifestyle Coach (Diabetes Prevention Program)

  • Description: The Greater Beverly YMCA is currently seeking instructors for the YMCA’s new Diabetes Prevention Program this fall.  Instructors will provide support and guidance to participants in the program and implement a standard curriculum. 
  • Requirements: Qualified candidates must have strong communication and relationship building skills, the ability to build community within a group and have empathy for health seekers.  Experience teaching or facilitating a class or support group is required.  Must be flexible to work with a wide variety of people; detail, data and computer savvy.  An understanding of behavior change is required. Housing Facilities Manager

Reporting to the Housing and Facility Director, the facility manager is responsible for the care and upkeep of our housing units in Beverly to positively impact the lives of individuals and families in our community. Duties include maintenance of equipment, staffing support, painting and building up-keep, extermination processes and cleanliness. Kids Club - Caretakers

  • Status: Part time, hourly

  • Description: To engage, play and interact with children from Infancy through 8 years. Staff work in assigned “Play Zones” that are designed by age group and developmental levels of children. Each “Play Zone” has appropriate toys and materials for children to use while under our care. Children spend from 1 to 2 hours with us in the Kids Club program while their parent(s) are on-site working out in the YMCA. 
  • Requirements: Enjoy being with children, a strong patience, high energy level and physically able to move quickly and work with children on the floor. Experience working with children is preferred.

Kids Club Coordinator

  • Status: Part time, Hourly
  • Location: Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA
  • Description: Under the guidance of the Early Learning Director, the Kids Club Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Kids Club Room to provide a safe and friendly environment for all members, staff and children.
    Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to; manage and oversee the policies, procedures and member service standards, maintain health and safety records, parent communication, oversee the maintenance of materials, work with staff to develop age appropriate seasonal art activities, manage staff supervision, schedules and substitute coverage, hiring staff as needed and to maintain a solid substitute pool, function as liaison between the day and evening shifts, and relay all pertinent information to the Early Learning Director.
  • Requirements: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years experience working with children and families. Flexibility of schedule is required and will consist of morning, evening and weekend hours.
    The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable of basic child development stages as noted in the Massachusetts Early Learning Guidelines for Infant, Toddler and Preschool Children and proficient in the use of Windows based computer software programs including MS Office.
    The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and members is important to this position. Effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to deliver good member service and a high level of enthusiasm are required.
    Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff are important to this position. Must also have the ability to take initiative and respond to a variety of situations and manage several tasks and projects at the same time while working in a fast paced environment.

Swim Team Coaches

  • Status: Part time
  • Location: All YMCAs
  • Qualifications: The North Shore YMCA, with branches in Haverhill, Ipswich, Cape Ann, Beverly, Salem and Marblehead, is looking for part time swim coaches for our Senior groups, Age groups & Novice level groups. We are a competitive Swim Team for athletes ages 5 and up, of various levels. In order to be considered for this position, you must be available Monday-Friday evenings, as well as Saturday morning and occasional weekend meets.
  • Requirements: Candidates should have swim coaching experience, knowledge of stroke technique, good communication skills, and a can do attitude. Coaches should have or be willing to obtain CPR & First Aid certifications. It is encouraged that they also possess a current Lifeguarding certification or have completed the Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches. ASCA certification and YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming is preferred, or must be obtained during the first year of hire. Competitive swimming experience is preferred but not required.
