Salem YMCA

BOKWA Instructor 

  • Status: Full time
  • Location: Salem YMCA
  • Description: The Supportive Case Manager will provide supportive casework, guidance and support to toddler, preschool, school age and homeless children and their families in YMCA child care programs.  Will work cooperatively with children, parents and teachers to address concerns and teach desired behaviors. 
  • Requirements:
    - Must meet ONE of the following criteria: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), A degree in early childhood education, or Social Work. 4 years or more, providing such services with existing supportive contractor, 2 years or more as a DCF caseworker, Social worker with an LMHC (licensed mental health counselor) 3 or more years working with school age children in an after school setting.
    - Must be willing to meet Department of Early Education and Care requirements for SA Site Coordinator or Preschool Director.
    - Evidence of physical examination within one year prior to employment and every two years following employment;
    - Evidence of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella;
     - Negative TB test in accordance with current Department of Public Health regulations;
    - A CORI in accordance to the Department of Early Education and Care;
    - Must maintain current CPR and First Aid;
    - Must be willing to obtain 7-D license within 3 months of hire.

Director of Music and Media

  • Status: Full time, exempt.
  • Location: Salem YMCA
  • Description: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Media and Music  will assist in the design, implementation, and management of the SAYmedia program, Teen programs, and Salem Community Charter School work study and service learning programs.    Primary focus will be on development and leadership of expanding opportunities for the Teens in Salem.
  • Requirements: Operate and maintain a variety of analog and digital video cameras and video editing equipment; operate computers and relevant systems and software; creatively plan and translate abstract concepts into effective visual form; work with other technical and non-technical staff to organize and implement videotaping of instructional or other educational related projects; work with clients and talent to be comfortable in front of the camera; adapt video products to fit needs of clients and target audience; explain various principles of video to clients; develop and optimize workflow techniques to manage complex video projects effectively and efficiently; troubleshoot video product complications; research solutions and make technical decisions; communicate effectively with individuals and groups; write and speak clearly, concisely and effectively; meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities; research and remain current on the developments and applications of state of the art video production technology.

Lifeguards and Swim Instructors

  • Status: Part-Time, Hourly and Seasonal Full Time, Hourly

  • Location: Salem YMCA
  • Description: Individuals can work up to 35 hours a week. 
Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, the lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well being of all patrons in the aquatic area. While on duty, a lifeguard has a legal and moral obligation to take action to protect all swimmers and patrons in the aquatic area and to respond to emergencies per YMCA protocols.. 
  • Requirements: Lifeguard: Must hold current certifications in Lifeguard, Pro CPR, First Aid and Oxygen. Must be able to maintain alertness and rescue-ready position for duration of shift. Must maintain active scanning of the pool and surrounding areas. Must demonstrate the values of the YMCA and take pride in the community we serve. 
Swim instructors do not need a competitive swim background or lifeguard certification but a basic knowledge of strokes and ability to swim is required.

Spinning Instructor

Fitness Floor Staff

Sterling Y Maintenance Director

  • Status: Full Time Exempt
  • Location: Sterling YMCA
  • Description: Through direct supervision of the Greater Beverly Senior Facility Director, the Sterling Maintenance Director will assist with facility projects and maintenance of equipment at all facilities on the Sterling Y campus.  The Sterling Maintenance Director will oversee the cleanliness of all Sterling Y Facilities and is responsible for the direct supervision, hiring and firing of the Sterling Y custodial staff.  The position also includes participation in North Shore YMCA projects under the direction of the Greater Beverly Senior Facility Director.. 
  • Requirements: 

    High School Degree or Equivalent

    Minimum of 3 years in a specific manual trade.

    Basic knowledge of building related trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC repairs, etc

    Must be able to physically demonstrate skills necessary to properly keep all facilities clean and maintained. 

    Must be able to lift 50lbs

    Must maintain valid Massachusetts Driver’s License

Personal Trainers

  • Description: Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Director, Personal Trainers work both one-on-one and in groups with members and program participants to help people develop a healthy body and meet fitness goals. Utilizing fitness knowledge and experience, Personal Trainers act as “fitness experts” for YMCA members. 
  • Requirements:  Must be a minimum of 18 years of age; Must maintain CPR, First Aid Certification; Must have current nationally recognized personal training certification or four year Bachelor’s degree in the field; Must have at least 5 hours of direct trainer shadowing or at least 25 hours of practical training experience.

Housing Facilities Manager

  • Description: The YMCA of the North Shore is looking for a committed and responsible new member of our housing team to serve as the facility manager in Beverly. Reporting to the Housing and Facility Director, the facility manager is responsible for the care and upkeep of our housing units in Beverly to positively impact the lives of individuals and families in our community. Duties include maintenance of equipment, staffing support, painting and building up-keep, extermination processes and cleanliness. Lifeguards & Swim Lesson Instructors

  • Description: Lifeguards help supervise two indoor pools, keeping adults and children safe in the water! Flexible hours and opening shifts (4:45am -9:00am) available. Swim lesson instructors work with children in teaching the YMCA Swim Lesson program, including parent/child, preschool, or youth lessons.

Afterschool Enrichment Staff: Photography

Sterling Woods Discovery Specialist

  • Description: This poisition will plan and implement age approropriate activities for each of the Sterling Woods Day Camp groups (children ages 6-12).  Curriculum would incorporate educational fundamentals of varies subjects into a recreational camp setting, following each week's camp theme.  Various subject matters may include, but not limited to math, science, literature and social studies. 
  • Requirements: Must be familiar with MA State Frameworks and have experience in both camp and classrooms settings.  Creativity and thinking "outside the box" is a must!

PROGRAM Coordinator

  • Status: Part time
  • Location: Greater Beverly YMCA
  • Qualifications: A commitment to and supports the Y mission and more specifically, the vision and goals of Activate America’s focus on health seekers. Must have outstanding communication skills; exceptional organizational skills; a passion for data and details; flexibility; and the ability to build strong relationships, inspire confidence, and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders (physicians, public health officials, employers, payers, health seekers, and senior Y leaders and Lifestyle Coaches). Public health background a plus.
External Responsibilities: 
  • Establish relationships with public health, physician, and payer communities and other referral networks to enhance awareness of and referrals to the program.
  • Serve as a liaison, ambassador, and advocate for the program within public health, physician and payer communities.
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public and members of the public health, physician and payer communities about the program.
  • Assist senior Y leaders in leveraging relationships with public health, physician and payer communities for the benefit of the program.
  • Engage senior Y leaders to be ambassadors and advocates for the program in the public health, physician and payer communities.
  • Act as spokesperson about the program for the press and media.
  • Serve as primary contact and participate in market launch activities. 
Internal Responsibilities
  • Hire, supervise and retain Lifestyle Coaches.
  • Organize Lifestyle Coach training(s), and support coaches in implementing the program.Monitor the quality of support that Lifestyle Coaches provide to program participants.
  • Recruit, screen and enroll eligible participants into the program.
  • Organize master schedule of classes offered throughout the association.
  • Engage marketing staff to ensure adequate publicity and marketing of the program.
  • Assist Lifestyle Coaches with launching of each group and evaluation of the group.
  • Assist with retention and commitment of program participants.
  • Regularly analyze data from the program to ensure it meets quality performance standards.
  • Audit classes to ensure compliance with program standards.
  • Participate on regularly-scheduled conference calls with Y-USA and other Ys participating in the program.
  • Provide class coverage if needed to prevent a cancelled class.

Group Leader, Afterschool Program

Adaptive Camp Coordinator

  • Status: Part-Time, Hourly
  • Location: Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA
  • Description: Camp Sunrise is a fully-inclusive program for individuals with physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional and/or multiple disabilities. Campers will have fun participating in drama, arts and crafts, daily swimming, gym and sports. Campers are integrated into partner camps and enjoy all of the usual camp activities while being in a supportive personal environment. These camps feature very low staff to camper ratios and specially trained staff. 
     
    - Using adaptations to assist in communication with children.
    - Communicating with parents.
    - Helping all children to abide by the same general camp rules, with
       some flexibility based on individual needs.
    - Matching campers with counselors. Attention is paid to creating a
       "good match," personality wise, between counselors and the children
       with special needs.
    - Supporting counselors who have a child with disabilities in their group
       in ways such as:
       1. Pre-camp training (for all counselors and camp staff).
       2. Provide information on campers fro adaptive counselors.
       3. Providing an extra counselor for support, when needed.
       4. Assist adaptive counselors with problem situations (following the
           discipline plan)
  • Requirements: At least 20 years of age; 2 years experience working with children with disabilities and or college classed in Special Education; Experience supervising children with disabilities during recreational and educational activities.

Adaptive Camp Counselor

  • Status: Part-Time & Full-Time, Hourly/Seasonal
  • Location: Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA
  • Description: Camp Sunrise is a fully-inclusive program for individuals with physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional and/or multiple disabilities. Campers will have fun participating in drama, arts and crafts, daily swimming, gym and sports. Campers are integrated into partner camps and enjoy all of the usual camp activities while being in a supportive personal environment. These camps feature very low staff to camper ratios and specially trained staff.
