AQUATIC & Water Aerobics STAFF

Gymnastics Team Head Coach

Sports & Recreation Program Assistant

Salem YMCA

Location: Salem, MA

Job Description:  The Director of Operations is supervised by and reports to the local Y Executive Director. This position is accountable to both the local Y Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer to lead all Y operations including membership, program, child care and camp. The Director of Operations will assist leadership in fund development, community engagement and board development. 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree

A minimum of five (5) years of successful YMCA leadership experience or equivalent that includes extensive management and supervisory experience.

A positive history of leadership in the areas of: volunteer and staff development, operations and financial management, strategic planning and execution, and community and donor cultivation.

Experience in marketing and managing a mission-driven organization with excellent human relations skills is expected.
Commitment to promoting and valuing diversity is essential.
Desire and effort towards Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification (if not already acquired). 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversight of operations: Provide direction and support for membership, programs, camp and after school child care at the local Y. Review current program offerings, determine which programs provide the best engagement and net impact. Ensure that schedules best meet community needs and interests. Develops and implements recruitment, retention and recapture strategies to increase revenue.

Greater Beverly YMCA


Group Exercise INSTRUCTORs

  • Description: The Greater Beverly YMCA is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Group Exercise Instructors to join our Health and Wellness team dedicated to our three areas of focus, Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

The position is part time, with early morning, evening and weekend afternoon opportunities available. LIFEGUARDS AND SWIM INSTRUCTORS

  • Description: Lifeguards help supervise indoor pool, keeping adults and children safe in the water. Flexible hours and variety of shifts available.  
    Swim lesson instructors work with children in teaching the YMCA Swim Lesson program, including parent/child, preschool, or youth lessons.
  • Requirements: Lifeguards must be certified lifeguard and have current certifications in CPR and First Aid. Instructors do not need to be certified, but it is a plus. Training can be provided.

Licensed Massage Therapist

  • Staus: Part-time

  • Under the direction of the Senior Director of Healthy Living and Disease Prevention, our massage therapists support our commitment to healthy living by providing competent, thorough and professional massage therapy services to the community. Therapists work in a clinically competent fashion, with clients of all ages,  medical backgrounds and treatment preferences.
Requirements:
  • Build lasting relationships with members and clients,

  • Promote the YMCA positively throughout the communities that we serve.

  • Ensure that all massage areas are clean and sanitary and all equipment is in good working order. Report any issues with space or equipment in a timely manner.

North Shore Elite All-Stars is a competitive all-star cheer program within the Greater Beverly YMCA. Our program is in its second season and is growing rapidly! We are currently looking to hire head, assistant and tumbling coaches! 

Candidates must possess the following qualities-
  • Must be professional, reliable, goal-oriented, and passionate about teaching all levels of competitive cheerleading.
  • Must be organized and responsible.
  • Must have two or more years of competitive cheer coaching experience.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Level 1 - 3 tumbling and stunting techniques and skills.
  • Must have the flexibility to work weekends and weeknights with minimal travel.
  • Must enjoy working with children ages 4-18.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM GROUP LEADER
  • Status: Part-Time, Hourly, Hours 1:45 – 6:00 pmMonday –Friday, must be available at least three afternoons per week.
  • Location: Greater Beverly YMCA
  • Description: This position will be responsible for general supervision of students in after school programs. Must have great written and verbal communication skills and be detail-oriented. Applicant will be responsible for planning and implementing curriculum for students in grades Kindergarten – 5th grade.  Activities may include homework help, gym and outside activities, group enrichment, arts & crafts and STEM projects. Applicant must be knowledgeable with EEC regulations. The After School Program Group Leader will display and encourage caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the development of curriculum and in all actions in the program.  
  • Requirements: Applicant must be at least 18 years old and meet one of the three requirements:  have a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree and have at least 3 months working with school age children; or have a high school diploma and 6 months working with school age children (in an after school program); or have 9 months working with school age children at an afterschool program.  Applicant must be First Aid and CPR certified.  Training is available.

Program Coordinator

Part-time, 20 hours per week

General Function
Implement the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program, supervise daily operations related to the program, provide support and guidance to Lifestyle Coaches, and ensure that the program achieves quality performance outcomes.
 
Qualifications
A commitment to and supports the Y mission and more specifically, the vision and goals of Activate America’s focus on health seekers. Must have outstanding communication skills; exceptional organizational skills; a passion for data and details; flexibility; and the ability to build strong relationships, inspire confidence, and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders (physicians, public health officials, employers, payers, health seekers, and senior Y leaders and Lifestyle Coaches). Public health background a plus.
 
External Responsibilities
  • Establish relationships with public health, physician, and payer communities and other referral networks to enhance awareness of and referrals to the program.
  • Serve as a liaison, ambassador, and advocate for the program within public health, physician and payer communities.
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public and members of the public health, physician and payer communities about the program.
  • Assist senior Y leaders in leveraging relationships with public health, physician and payer communities for the benefit of the program.
  • Engage senior Y leaders to be ambassadors and advocates for the program in the public health, physician and payer communities.
  • Act as spokesperson about the program for the press and media.
  • Serve as primary contact and participate in market launch activities.
Internal Responsibilities
  • Hire, supervise and retain Lifestyle Coaches.
  • Organize Lifestyle Coach training(s), and support coaches in implementing the program.
  • Monitor the quality of support that Lifestyle Coaches provide to program participants.
  • Recruit, screen and enroll eligible participants into the program.
  • Organize master schedule of classes offered throughout the association.
  • Engage marketing staff to ensure adequate publicity and marketing of the program.
  • Assist Lifestyle Coaches with launching of each group and evaluation of the group.
  • Assist with retention and commitment of program participants.
  • Regularly analyze data from the program to ensure it meets quality performance standards.
  • Audit classes to ensure compliance with program standards.
  • Participate on regularly-scheduled conference calls with Y-USA and other Ys participating in the program.
  • Provide class coverage if needed to prevent a cancelled class.

After School Site Coordinator

  • Description: Part Time Site Coordinator for the before school and after school program. 25- 30 hours per week in an EEC Licensed Child Care Program.
  • Requirements: Must be at least 20 years of age, have a minimum of 6 months- 1 year experience (varies with the type of degree you have earned) of supervised experience working at a school age program. Must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of children's growth and development and be able to apply this understanding to appropriate activities. Associate Camp Director
  • Location: Salem YMCA
  • Status: Part-time for planning and training's in May-June. Full-time by mid-late June.
Responsibilities:  
1. Deliver a fun program to campers.
  • Ensure lesson plans are prepared and implemented that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.
  • Evaluate program delivery abilities of staff.
  • Deliver progressive program activities.
  • Evaluate the success of the program and the development of the campers’ abilities and skills in various program activities
  • Coordinate all camp program and flag pole activities with other staff.
2.Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs.
  • Assist in the implementation of staff training.
  • Provide guidelines for programs utilizing camp equipment.
  • Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures in all program areas.
3. Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
  • Oversee daily checks of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
  • Ensure that program areas are kept fee of hazards and debris.
4. Supervise and evaluate Program Specialists to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities
  • Regularly monitor work of program specialists.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to program specialists.
  • Provide recommendations and concerns to camp director regarding program specialists’ performances.
5. Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of camp program and facilities.

  • Collect and evaluate records; report and evaluate camp program and activity areas.
Other Job Duties:
  • Attend administrative staff meetings.
  • Maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with all camp staff.

7D Van Drivers

The Greater Beverly YMCA is looking for a responsible and dedicated member of our team to transport our most precious cargo. Our van drivers are committed to safety, develop relationships with the children they transport and their families and help us accomplish an important part of our support for the community. 
  • Status: Part-time
  • Duties include: transporting children, maintaining transportation log and maintenance reports and maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle. 
  • Qualified candidates are 18 years of age or older, have a valid Massachusetts 7D drivers license and a clear driving record. 
  • Pay is commensurate with experience.

Preschool Dance Instructor

  • Location: Greater Beverly YMCA
  • Description: We are looking for a part-time dance instructor who can teach and choreograph beginner levels of ballet, tap and hip hop to children ages 3-8 years old.  We will require at least two ballet classes, 1 tap class and/or 1 hip hop class be taught per week to a variety of age groups and on various days.  Dance classes run on weekday afternoons 3pm-6pm.  
  • Experience: At least one year of teaching (not assistanting) is required and must have a background in dance as well.  Classes are for our studio-based program so a September-June commitment is needed and classes will perform in our Spring Recital.

Associate Maintenance Director

  • Status: Full time, exempt
  • Location: Greater Beverly YMCA
  • Description: The Greater Beverly Y Maintenance Director will oversee the cleanliness of all Sterling and Cabot Y facilities and is responsible for the direct supervision of the Sterling and Cabot Y custodial staff.  Through direct supervision of the Greater Beverly Senior Facility Director, the Greater Beverly Y Associate Maintenance Director will assist with facility projects and maintenance of equipment at all facilities on the Sterling Y and Cabot Y campuses.  
  • Requirements: High School Degree or Equivalent. Previous experience in custodial work, custodial supervision a plus. Basic knowledge of building related trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC repairs, etc. Must be able to physically demonstrate skills necessary to properly keep all facilities clean and maintained. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must maintain valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.

Full-time Age Group Swim Team Coach

Location: Greater Beverly YMCA

Description: The YMCA of the North Shore SHARKS is a YMCA/USA Swim Team located on the North Shore of Boston. We are a 6 site team with over 400 competitive swimmers from age 5 -18 of varying levels. We are currently seeking a FULL TIME Age Group Coach.

Requirements: Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience, be a well-organized, energetic age group coach with a great understanding of swimmer development and stroke technique, a “self-starter” with a strong work ethic / moral values, a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with Team Unify and Meet Manager is preferred but not required. Candidates should have (or be willing to acquire) all of the appropriate USA Swimming and YMCA Swimming certifications as well as lifeguarding or Red Cross Safety Training for Coaches. The Data Entry/Membership Services Billing Specialist

    • Responsible for the reconciliations of daily deposit and postings of all membership applications and changes to membership account information.

    • Follow up and collection of past due membership revenue.

    • Assist and resolve member issues regarding membership billing and account information.

We are a competitive Swim Team for athletes ages 5 and up, of various levels. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housing Manager’s role is to coordinate the needs and interest of the YMCA Tenants with the Housing Director. The Housing Manager is responsible for the collection of rent, bank deposits, certifications, re-certifications and assisting with the daily management of the facility.   • Assist with the day to day operations of the resident facility.

  • Maintain all YMCA housing maintenance areas; offices, supply closets and basements should be kept in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
  • Maintain YMCA housing record systems to include all equipment purchases, repairs and regular preventative maintenance actions.
  • Promptly and efficiently respond to emergency situations related to maintenance of the YMCA housing facilities at any time necessary.
  • Keep informed, through self-initiative and research, the current practices techniques related to the building and property operations as well as custodial functions.

  • In conjunction with the Director of Housing, develop and oversee maintenance budgets.  Make changes necessary to meet fiscal obligations.
  • Recruit, supervise and train all part-time and contracted housing maintenance and custodial personnel.
  • Ensure that all shifts are covered to meet the facility needs including covering vacant shifts due to staff sickness, failure to show, vacations and emergencies.
  • Assist as required to ensure smooth transition & legal compliance of residence is enforced.
  • Maintain all YMCA housing maintenance areas; offices, supply closets and basements should be kept in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
  • Maintain YMCA housing record systems to include all equipment purchases, repairs and regular preventative maintenance actions.
  • Conduct scheduled YMCA housing inspections to maintain all fire, health certificates and building permits.
  • Promptly and efficiently respond to emergency situations related to maintenance of the YMCA housing facilities at any time necessary.
  • Keep informed, through self-initiative and research, the current practices techniques related to the building and property operations as well as custodial functions.
  • Prioritize needed replacement or acquisition of facility equipment.
  • Prioritize and schedule housing maintenance needs while responding to day-to-day emergencies as they occur.
  • Demonstrate our four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility on a day-to-day basis including times of crisis or problem situations.
  • Maintain communication with North Shore YMCA staffs toward the smooth daily operations of YMCA housing and collaboration on services available to help our residents.
  • Maintain positive communication about the YMCA, its staff and volunteers inside and outside of the YMCA buildings.
  • Personally build relationships with YMCA residents and community through daily interactions.
  • All other duties as directed or required for the overall success of the organization including, but not limited to professional duties such as staff meetings, trainings, and participating in the annual campaign.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to physically demonstrate skills necessary to properly keep all facilities clean and maintained.  
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must maintain valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
  • Must be 18 years or older with high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must work efficiently with attention to detail
  • A willingness to attend additional required trainings within the specified time per hiring schedule (51A online training, child abuse prevention, Fair Housing, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and alongside our facilities department
  • Familiar with basic computer skills and willingness to learn housing software.
