Meet the Sterling Woods & Camp S.T.A.R. Camp Staff of 2012...

Lorigan Sudak- Youth, Family & Camp Director
This is Lorigan's 9th summer with the Greter Beverly YMCA.  She graduated from UMass Dartmouth in 2006 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Art Education and is currently in the process of getting her M.Ed. in Special Education from Salem State University.  This year Lorigan is handing Sterling Woods Day Camp to her trusty Assistant Director from the past 4 years, Mat Beaver.  In addition to helping with Sterling Woods, Lorigan will be directly overseeing Camp STAR Sr., Camp STAR Jr., Preschool Dance Camp and Youth Dance Camp (with the help of many great coordinators).  This year, Lorigan will also be overseeing all policies and procedures for all 35 camps at the Greater Beverly YMCA, so you will absolutely see her around. 

Mat Beaver - Sterling Woods Day Camp Director
Mat has been at the Greater Beverly YMCA forever...aka 11 years, and his 1st as the Sterling Woods Director.  Previously Mat has been the Sterling Woods Assistant Director, helping facilitate activities and running camp for 2 previous director.  He has his Associate's Degree from North Shore Community College and will be enrolling in a Bachelor's Degree program this year.  During the school year Mat is the Centerville Site Coordinator for the Greater Beverly YMCA Afterschool Program and Lead Program Staff for our Kids Fun Nights every Friday. Mat cannot wait for another amazing and exciting summer...and of course defending his Dodgeball title

Jon Powers - Camp S.T.A.R. Coordinator/CIT Director
This will be Jon's 11th summer at Sterling Woods and his 1st year as the Camp S.T.A.R. Coordinator.  For the past 4 summers Jon was our Music Specialist, where he taught kids about rhythm, tune and played our annual Talent Show.  Jon graduated from Providence College with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.  During the year Jon is a para-professional at Briscoe Middle School.  He has played the drums for 20 years and now has the opportunity to teach campers how much fun music can be.  Jon loves music, traveling, spending time with friends and sports, especially Red Sox baseball!

Liz Cronin - Administrative Assistant
This is Liz's 2nd year joining the Sterling Woods team, and we are VERY lucky to have her.  Liz just graduated from UCONN and heading back for a 5th year to get her Masters Degree in Special Education.  During the camp you can see Liz taking pictures, calling parents and having fun with the Sterling Woods kids!
