Greater Beverly Programs
Sterling Woods Reminders, Billing and Contact Info
Just a Couple of RemindersSuggestions on What to Bring to Camp:
Water - campers are walking around camp all day as well as being very active within their activity blocks.
Water is a necessity for all campers so they stay hydrated. (click here for tips on summer hydration)
Snacks - campers at Sterling Woods become very hungry during the day and often snack from
activity to activity. Some snacks suggested are fruit, vegetables, pretzels and/or other healthy
snacks campers enjoy.
Sneakers - all campers must wear sneakers during camp. Sterling Woods is very woodsy with many
tree roots and rocks on the ground. Sneakers are the safest footwear.
Socks - extra socks are always a key item to pack. Socks can easily fall out of back packs while walking
or changing in the locker rooms.
Suggestions on What NOT to Bring to Camp:
NUT PRODUCTS - all Greater Beverly YMCA summer camps are NUT FREE...this includes peanut butter
almond butter and any other nut product. Please check labels on all food carefully, as many of our
summer camps have children with allergies.
Soda/Juices - soda and juices that are not 100% fruit juice can actually de-hydrate a child while being
active.
Cell Phones - the Sterling Woods Camp Office has a phone in which all counselors can use to contact
families, or families can contact Sterling Woods. Cell Phones can easily get lost or ruined at camp.
Pokeman Cards - these toys can easily get lost or ruined at camp.
Video Games - campers will be very busy every day with daily activities and have no time to play video
games. These devices can also get lost or ruined at camp.
Expensive Accessories - it is suggested that any beach towel, pool goggles, lunch boxes, sweatshirts,
backpacks and even sneakers worn or sent to camp is relatively inexpensive. This is if these
things are lost or ruined they can easily be replaced.
