A Night for Champions

We hit a Home Run at the YMCA's A Night for Champions! 

On Thursday April 28th, the YMCA hosted its Second Annual fundraising event at the Hellenic Center in Ipswich. Event Co-chairs, Emily Hayes and Pete Brock, a former New England Patriots lineman and member of the 1985 AFC Championship Team were joined by 16 sports icons for an evening of sports stories, cocktails and sit-down dinner. Guests enjoyed a fabulous cocktail hour followed by the introduction of our Champions. Each Champion was escorted by a P.A.C. participant to a guest table to share some great sports stories and enjoy an excellent dinner! An exciting, spontaneous and fun-filled night was had by all! 

Some of our New England Champions in attendance were: Pete Brock (Patriots), Ray Bourque (Bruins), Matt Chapman (Patriots), Gino Cappelletti (Patriots), Billy Conigliaro (Red Sox), Charlie Moore (The Mad Fisherman) and more! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to have an up close and personal experience with some of our area's greatest sports heroes! The event raised more than $62,000! 100% of the proceeds raised benefit the important work of the Y's P.A.C. (Physical Activities Club) helping in the fight against Childhood Obesity.

Childhood Obesity affects 1 in 3 children and young adults right here on the North Shore. It is a national epidemic and the Y wants to help in the fight through our P.A.C. program. To support this cause rather than an auction there was a Patriots Sports Experience raffle (being sold by Patriots Cheerleaders), a Red Sox vs. Yankees Experience raffle and gorgeous jewelry by Robert Corio Designs, Inc. was also raffled off. This cause was important to guests and champions alike as we raised ($10,000) more than last year! Thanks to all who helped make this truly "A Night for Champions!"
