| Bricks and mortar! It takes a combination of community outreach and a first-rate facility to provide needed programs and services to our communities. This important fundraising campaign allows the YMCA increase the quality of our programs through construction projects, renovation, expansion and special equipment acquisition. Currently, the YMCA of the North is undergoing a capital campaign to raise funds for the new Marblehead/Swampscott YMCA at Leggs Hill:
 Marblehead-Swampscott YMCA - The YMCA has raised $12 million toward the $14 million fundraising goal. This new state-of-the-art facility will have a collegiate size pool, shallow warm teaching pool, fitness center, gymnasium, gymnastics center, four squash courts, early education center, teen center and four Boston Ballet Dance studios.
In 2007, the campaign was awarded a Kresge Foundation Challenge Grant of $750,000. Construction has begun and a grand opening is expected for September 2008. Click here for a short film of our progress.
