Greater Beverly Programs Greater Beverly Y Housing
The YMCA grounds itself in more than 150 years of rich history. The YMCA started in 1844 as a place for young men to stay while working in the big cities during the Industrial Revolution.
So housing has been an important part of the mission of the YMCA since its inception.
And for the Greater Beverly YMCA, we've been making an impact in providing needed housing for more than 100 years.
While the needs of the community have certainly changed since 1844, the YMCA's commitment to addressing community needs has not.
Today the Greater Beverly YMCA operates 3 housing initiatives, each meeting a different and essential need for the City of Beverly.
Forty-five low-income adults call the Cabot Street YMCA home in our 45 single room occupancy building at 245 Cabot Street.
In addition to providing clean, well-maintained efficiencies, we are able to offer support and guidance to those individuals who may be involved with drug and alcohol recovery programs or are physically and/or mentally challenged.
For some, the Y residence program is a permanent home and for others it's a necessary and needed stop along the way to a self-supported living situation.
The Greater Beverly YMCA also meets the housing needs of many families through our Rantoul Street and Holcroft Park Homes Affordable Family Housing programs. We help families remain strong and viable by reducing the burden of high-rent family housing.
The Greater Beverly YMCA is proud to meet the increasing need of affordable housing that makes an impact in the Beverly community.
