Stories of Substance
The YMCA of the North Shore Theatre Company's original program Stories of Substance uses theatre as a medium to encourage conversations between young adults and their communities about substance use and addiction. This production tells the stories of real young adults in recovery on the North Shore, as told by playwrights from the Salem Athenaum. Our hope is that the students on and off the stage know help is available, and that they are not alone. Inspired by true stories of local young adults and written by Salem playwright Matthew Phillion.
This production is intended for use by Middle and High Schools to encourage critical conversation about this national epidemic. Recent performances were held at Ames Hall at the Salem YMCA and Bevely High School.

Visual arts, music and more! Contact Nicole Heena email@example.com
Our goal is to give youth and teens the opportunity to experience music through free instruction, development, creation, and performance of various music and production elements during after school hours. This is about much more than the music; it’s about inspiring and encouraging youth to serve their community with greater awareness. Through our state-of-the-art sound engineering facility, music instruments and equipment, as well as partnering with local and professional musicians, we are striving to maintain a degree of excellence that we believe every student deserves.
YMCA Theatre Camps offer a great opportunity for creative fun during the summer! Our fantastic staff loves spending the summer with kids age 6+, growing confidence, building friendships, and of course, having a blast! We offer programs in Cape Ann, Haverhill, Beverly, Marblehead, and Salem. Camps run in one week sessions with the exception of our production camps which run in two consecutive week sessions.
