OUR CAUSE DEFINES US
We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That’s why at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Our Areas of Focus
The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: Nurturing the potential of every child and teen.
HEALTHY LIVING: Improving the nation's health and well-being.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
Our Strength is in Community
The Y is a nonprofit like no other. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive change.
- The Y is community centered. For nearly 160 years, we’ve been listening and responding to our communities.
- The Y brings people together. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.
- The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
- The Y has local presence and global reach. We mobilize local communities to affect lasting, meaningful change.
Mission & Vision
Our Y welcomes all. We strengthen communities, educate and nurture children, and promote healthy living in spirit, mind and body.
Where all children, adults and families are healthy, confident and connected.
Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Case for Support

Our Annual Report
“The Y’s impact is not limited to our buildings, it transcends location. We are reaching beyond our walls and meeting our community where they are in order to support, encourage and discover innovative ways to help.” Chris Lovasco CEO, YMCA of the North Shore.
