Salem YMCA Child Care
From early education to teen development, the Y offers programs for children to learn, grown and thrive.
Infant & Toddler Programs 6 weeks to 2.9 years:
Infants enjoy a wholesome environment where they begin to discover the world around them. With low child-to-staff ratios, the staff creates individualized schedules to meet each child’s needs, and parents receive daily communication, ensuring everyone stays on the same page when it comes to their care. Toddlers, with guidance throughout the day, navigate social situations, investigate cause and effect relationships and build on essential early language and motor skills. Daily routines give children the opportunity to develop a sense of security, confidence, and willingness to engage with their peers.
Preschool Program 2.9 – 5
Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs provide a safe, nurturing environment in which children can learn to communicate, cooperate and care about each other. Our low staff-to-child ratios give your preschooler one-on-one interaction with teachers. When your child takes part in our Preschool or Kindergarten Readiness program, they will have a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning. Programs include creative curriculum, STEAM, literacy and arts, sensory play, age-appropriate activities including swimming, and sports, gross motor skills space, nutritious snacks, and more.
A fun, educational program that helps elementary school children develop self-confidence, friendships, positive values, academic achievement, while building a sense of community. We offer care during school vacations, snow days, and half days. Each child registered for the school-age program also receives a Free YMCA Youth Membership. Looking for a unique afterschool program? We are enrolling for VIBE, our Creative Arts Afterschool program at the Salem Y!
Students can choose a visual arts or theater arts track each trimester. Students in our theatre arts track are part of our North Shore YMCA Theatre Company productions. Kids on the visual arts track will enjoy monthly field trips to the PEM, special projects with visiting professional artists, and celebrate their work with community gallery exhibits!
One of the challenges for our communities today is the rapidly increasing cost of living. We understand and we believe that every family & individual deserves the opportunity to enjoy their local YMCA. This is why we continue to offer our own flexible income-based pricing.
Along with open communication between the director, teachers and families including newsletters, emails and face to face conversations, our early education program uses the Kaymbu app to ensure consistent communications with families. In Kaymbu, we share pictures, your child’s discoveries as well as developmental updates.
