A YMCA FOR ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS
Everyone belongs at the Y, regardless of ability to pay. We are committed to ensuring every community member, has access to our Ys. Our Financial Scholarship program enables all individuals and families to become active members and participants at a rate that fits their budgets. This program is possible thanks to the many generous donors who support the YMCA’s Annual Campaign —100% of donations made to the Y help support kids, adults, and families in our communities.
Youth Outreach Initiative
At the Y, we know that furthering our impact means partnering with other organizations that align with our mission to help as many individuals, children and families as possible. Our Youth Outreach Initiative provides complimentary memberships to our communities' most vulnerable children. Participants are identified in collaboration with Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative agencies and DCF. We are supporting children in foster homes and their families by providing programs and membership. For more information, please contact the Membership Director at your local YMCA.
Youth Outreach Memberships - A Story of Impact
Partners in Youth Outreach
Celebrating his 15th birthday climbing Mount Chocorua in New Hampshire was something Brian could relate to, his life has been a series of uphill battles since birth. Born with lead poisoning, he has faced many personal challenges in his young life and continued to face each new challenge with the support of his grandmother. Thanks to Children’s Friend and Family Services Mentor program and the YMCA’s complimentary membership for Mentors and Mentees, Brian now has even more support! Brian’s youth volunteer mentor, Steve, has been working with our staff at the Beverly YMCA to increase Brian’s strength, activity levels, and healthy food choices. Brian and Steve enjoy all the resources the Y offers as well as outdooractivities that are helping Brian grow into a stronger, more confident young man. When they were first matched in the fall of 2014, Steve, a fitness and health enthusiast, encouraged Brian to dream big about a goal and asked him if he had ever gone hiking. They agreed that one day they would hike Mount Chocorua together. After spending the winter and spring getting in climbing shape at the Y, they reached their goal, celebrating Brian’s 15th birthday with an amazing view from the summit of Mount Chocorua! They have been working out, hanging out, and climbing high ever since!
At the Y, we know that furthering our impact means partnering with other organizations that align with our mission to help as many individuals, children and families as possible. Our collaboration with Children’s Friend and Family Services enables us to provide Y services and resources to more children in our service area. Children’s Friend and Family Services seeksvolunteer mentors ages 21 and older to be matched with one youth mentee from the North Shore. Together, we can do so much more.
