PARTNERING IN EDUCATION

We bring our exceptional enrichment programs to the school districts in the regions we serve while supporting children before and after the school day. With decades of experience, our 7 YMCA locations partner with dozens of elementary schools to provide quality before and afterschool child care during the school year. Children can apply what they are learning in school in a fun environment while they engage with friends and explore. Our highly trained and qualified staff members remain committed to supporting the educational, social, and emotional development of the children in the 25 cities and towns we service.

“All of the childcare team members at the Beeman After School Program are phenomenal. The level of care and engagement that they demonstrate each and every day and with each and every child is incredibly impressive. It can be a long day for my five year old and my seven year old, but the staff at the Y program take care to provide a fun, nurturing and supportive environment for them. And although my kids might be exhausted at the end of the day, they always come home with huge smiles on their faces! So THANK YOU!”

Staff Qualifications and Training

Our onboarding process includes 12 hours of trainings provided by the Department of Early Education and Care. All educators undergo a background check, fingerprinting, reference checks and interviews. Educators participate in trainings that include inclusion, curriculum, activities, supervision, and trauma informed care. Directors engage in Professional Development opportunities including leadership development, working with families, supporting inclusion.

Title Scholarships & Free Youth Memberships

In 2022, we provided nearly $400,000 in financial assistance to families in need. We remain committed to giving every child and family who needs childcare, access to our Y programs. In addition, each program participant receives a free YMCA youth membership, as well as a discounted family membership.

Inclusion Specialists & Case Managers

School partners reach out to us knowing our program can support the social-emotional needs of children. Supportive Case Managers are our liaison between the Y and DCF, building relationships and ensuring communication. Inclusion Specialists work with families, students and programs to support best practices, create individualized plans, and lead social emotional learning.

Early Release & Vacation Day Care:

Our programs run on early release days, school vacation weeks and if safety allows, during inclement weather school closures. In addition, families and children have great continuity of care as many of them join us for camp over the summer with counselors who are the same staff they were with in their school programs.
