Preschool Child Care
YMCA Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs provide a safe, wholesome environment in which children can learn to communicate, cooperate and care about each other. Our low staff-to-child ratios give your preschooler one-on-one interaction with teachers.
Our Y provides hundreds of families across the North Shore with high quality educational opportunities to give your child the best possible start towards elementary school. When your child takes part in our Preschool or Kindergarten Readiness program, they will have a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Our robust curriculum in our Pre-K program prepares children to become independent learners and develop self-confidence for sharing in a classroom setting. Through curriculum themes based on the interests of older children we focus on the areas of pre-reading, math and science skill development. Children are immersed in social interactions with peers and adults, giving them the tools they need to succeed in and out of the school environment.
Enrichment Included! Our YMCA education programs also include age appropriate enrichment activities like swimming, gymnastics, sports, fitness, dance, music and outdoor play. We are committed to the physical well being of all our children and provide weekly activities based on age and developmental levels. All of these enrichment activities are included in the weekly tuition.
PARENT CHILD, PRESCHOOL, YOUTH, TEEN AND ADULT SWIM LESSONS
The YMCA Swim lessons boast an innovative curriculum designed to advance individual swimmer’s skills and abilities in a wide variety of swimming proficiencies including personal safety, submersion, stroke work, diving, boating safety, competitive swimming, endurance and physical fitness. Each Swimmer’s progress is tracked as they earn rewards for benchmarks achieved. Complete all the skills at one level and advance to the next. Our program produces the future lifeguards and swim instructors that we count on to keep our community safe.
INFANT, TODDLER AND PRESCHOOL SWIM WITH PARENT
Ages: 6 months - 5 years
Through skill specific games and water play, children learn water safety, find a love for the water and progress through innovative skills and fun drills, one-on-one with a parent. Kicking, floating, swimming without flotation and submerging will be explored. Build a foundation for future swimming success while sharing with your child the importance of playing and swimming safely in, and around water.
PRESCHOOL SWIM ACADEMY
Ages: 3 years - 5 years
Fun with a splash of confidence. Preschoolers are introduced to the water and total submersion, then progress to kicking and pulling independently with flotation. Once comfortable, basic strokes, deep water skills and diving are encouraged while on the way to swimming flotation free! These classes are for all levels of children ranging from children who are entering the water the first time and may be apprehensive to those who already have a love for water and need to hone their skills.
YOUTH SWIM ACADEMY
Ages: 6 years and up
Float, pull and kick your way to swimming 25 yards. Increase stamina and personal water safety as you tackle the challenge of the Front Crawl, Backstroke, Sidestroke, Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. Advance to swimming up to 500 yards while discovering the fun of snorkeling, diving, competitive starts & turns and playing games that combine all of your newly acquired skills.
